The image size is always set to LARGE and the quality to JPEG FINE or TIFF. The images are edited with GIMP, scaled down to 1500 x 1000, slightly sharpened, and finally converted to JPEG (quality setting 90% - 95%).

Image presentation and Navigation

Select an image series on my home page, and an index page with 4 preview images (300 x 200 pixel) per row will appear. Select the first preview image, or any other, and a new page with a caption, the full size image (1500 x 1000 pixel) and a short text below the image will appear. Now, proceed to the next page and view the images in a slide show fashion. Instead of using the links, you can also navigate by using key shortcuts: Go to the next page by pressing  →  (right arrow) or enter/return, go to the previous page by pressing  ←  (left arrow), go to the index page by pressing I, and go to the home page by pressing H.

Use is made of prefetch, i.e. while you view a picture, the next one is being downloaded. The only browser supporting prefetch is Mozilla Firefox.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox and have a 1600 x 1200 screen you may change the Style of the Slide Show pages.

Exif data

Exif data are available for most of the images. The exif header of JPEG image files from the Nikon D50 does not contain ISO sensitivity, so no exif data are given for elder image series taken with that camera.

The small images shown on the exif data pages are identical with the preview images on the index pages.

Focal lengths relate to full frame. For photographs not taken with the Nikon D700, the camera’s true focal length is converted to the 35 mm equivalent focal length.
