Exif data

The photographs were taken on a voyage through the Four Corner States (i.e. Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah) and California in spring 2012. Three photographs were taken on a previous trip in fall 2009.

During our voyage, we could observe a solar eclipse and a Venus transit. See Astronomical events.

View a Painting by D.H. Lawrence.

The camera used is a Nikon D700 with a Nikkor 24-70mm 1:2.8 lens or a Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8 lens. Photos taken with the latter are marked TELEPHOTO below the images. Photographs taken by my wife Tove with her Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens are marked Tove. More photographic details on the exif data page.

Note on Date and Time: While we traveled, there was Daylight Saving Time in all states except Arizona (Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time, remaining on Mountain Time year-round). To make things easy, we kept our cameras set at Daylight Saving Time while we were in Arizona.
