Solar eclipse
The camera used is a Nikon D300 and the lens a Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8, the 35 mm equivalent focal length is 300 mm. Two ND 2.0 filters were attached to the lens, resulting in a light transmittance of 1/10000. Exposure was 1/500 s, f/8, ASA 100. The images were scaled down to half size.

Venus transit

Venus transit of 5 June 2012, observed at geographical position 40° 23' N and 105° 30' W (Estes Park, CO) at:

There was bad weather in Estes Park, allowing only for one observation in the evening. Note that 4 sunspots can be seen: 2 on a horizontal line below Venus and 2 on the upper edge of the cloud.

The same equipment was used. Exposure was 1/800 s, f/11, ASA 100. The image is in original size.
